Evan's First Hair Cut

There are many little things in life that really make certain experiences special. Today we had Evan's hair cut for the first time. This was an oddly emotional thing for me. For me it was sort of like the last little piece of that little angel laying in my arms at 3 am. That time was really precious to me. I've tried very hard to savor every little stage and milestone. He no longer lays in my arms or needs me to carry him up and down the stairs. He can feed himself and go and retrieve toys he wants. I even miss him laying in his crib waiting for me to pick him up.

I remember in the middle of the night just staring at him and rubbing his little head. Well, ok, it's not little but at one time it was! Christmas songs always make me warm and fuzzy because they always take me back to the time when Evan was an infant. At 3 AM the world was so quiet, with Christmas lights twinkling and I would have Christmas songs playing while I would feed him. It was such a peaceful experience.

Today will also be one of those times that will always bring fond memories. We are very fortunate to live in a town like Jefferson. It's so cute, with its church steeples, bakery and best of all 1 chair barber shop! Jim has been getting his hair cut at this barber shop for about 15 years and Chris had his hair cut there as well. So, today was Evan's big day. He got to go see Mr. Jim the Barber. Mr. Jim is a really kind and gentle person.

My little snickerdoodle did really well and didn't cry at all. He sat on Daddy's lap like a little man and I think even joined in the barber shop talk! Are you ready for some pictures? Well, I took 116.....but I guess I shouldn't post them all. :) Here are just a few.

Walking in with Dad

I love how he's looking through the door...what are we doing in here???

OK, here goes that cute little curl in the back!!!

Evan thought the clippers tickled.

A little off the top please...

Gotta get those sideburns!!

A little powder to brush off that hair!!
Then it was Daddy's TURN!!!
"You heard WHAT about the Ol' Jenkins farm???"

Evan showing off his new regulation cut!!!

While Daddy was finishing up.....

We really want to think Mr. Jim the barber, he made it really nice for Evan and was instrumental in the success of Evan's very 1st hair cut! See you when Evan's hair grows back...which at the rate his hair grows could be when he's 4!!

  1. I don't know why I teared up looking at these pics, but I couldn't help it. Maybe it was a mixture of Christmas music I'm playing and PMS! Or, the fact that our little man is growing up so fast! He looks so handsome, and these are some really good pics...thanks!
