Milestones

Milestones. Some you look forward to like, potty training, talking, walking and others you know will inevitably come but you sort of dread in the back of your mind.

Evan has achieved just such a milestone.  In my head I know it is what's best for him.  Just try to tell my heart that.

The milestone is:  Mr. Beep.  Oh, no, he still loves Mr. Beep and sleeps with him.  But he we have broken the "sucking" habit on Mr. Beeps corners.  I know one day he may not ask for Mr. Beep, but for now he even brings me security.

Evan named Mr. Beep.  Long before Evan could talk he developed his very own modified sign language for Mr. Beep.  It was grabbing his left forearm with his right hand and squeezing.  He modified it from the the sign language for bear!  But once he started talking he began to ask for his "Beep" and just last year it became more formal and the name Mr. Beep came to be.

A few years ago, we reduced his public exposure and most recently he's an only at night comfort.  I knew he had to stop sucking on him to prevent any mouth/teeth damage.  It was way easier than I though like most things with Evan.  When I stopped giving him a bottle on his 1st Birthday he never even cared.

Mr. Beep has shared nearly EVERY family event since Evan was about one.  I love that Evan has something special to make him feel safe.  There are actually 5 identical Mr. Beeps so that during the "busy times" I can keep clean ones in rotation.

Here is a little photo trip down memory lane with Mr. Beep.  This is just a brief synopsis of where Mr. Beep has been! He's been to Outer Banks 5 times, Jacksonville, NC, All over MD, PA, VA, WV and even Hawaii!!!

Mr. Beep was there when Evan moved into his Big Boy Bed.

Hanging out with his Brother at the beach.

Mr. Beep never needed a costume at Halloween!!

Nothing like some Mr. Beep time after a long day on the beach.

Mr. Beep LOVED to hang out with Diego.

Mr. Beep enjoyed walks in Harpers Ferry!

Snuggling with Evan's sister was always a good time.

Mr. Beep sees Santa!!!

Countless trips down the slide!!

True Love.

I always loved this picture.  We shouldn't rush our children through certain milestones.  I've cherished this time of Evan being a little boy and loving his Mr. Beep.  I'll never make him give him up.  So for now my little boy is tucked into bed with Mr. Beep dreaming of all the good times they've had together.
